I am a Musculoskeletal Therapist who has been working in the industry since early 2010. I attended the Endeavour Collage of Natural Health and received my Bachelor of Heath Science (Musculoskeletal Therapy) in November of 2009. I have had the privilege of working in Toowoomba since the completion of my course and start of professional life. This has offered me a vast range of experience in treating people with may different complaints from many different occupations and walks of life.
I have been a remedial massage therapist since 2007. I am passionate about clients, our industry and education. My specialities are in chronic pain and fibromyalgia, pregnancy and post pregnancy, lymphatic and oncology massage. Essentially all of those people who often fall into the ‘too hard’ basket.
My background is in administration and management. I have a passion for developing our industry and provide mentoring to both student massage therapists and local therapists alike who work in a single practitioner practice.
I am passionate about improving my knowledge in anatomy and physiology and working to best assist my clients through not only my treatments but through referring them to other allied health and medical practitioners in our referral network.
I am also a local ambassador for the Australian Association of Massage Therapists (AAMT).
After having dreamed of setting up my own business for so long I finally realised that it is time to take action. Working at a desk bound job for nearly 5 years gave me time to reflect on what I really wanted to do with my life, and sitting in an office chair was certainly not on top of my priority list. During this time I also started training and competing in IRONMAN distance triathlons which involved nearly 30 hours of training per week. However, there came a point in training where I was frustrated as I wasn’t seeing any improvement in my performance, plus I was constantly fighting against a chronic hamstring injury which led to other injuries as my body tried to compensate. This was a pivotal point in my life as it slowly became clear to me that sitting for hours at the desk had a detrimental effect on not only my training and performance, but also on my body. I started constantly working on ways to improve my strength, core and mobility, and eliminate any imbalanced movement patterns. Integrating these principles into my daily routine proved extremely vital as I developed a solid foundation in which I could then move better, train more efficiently and achieve results I never thought I could achieve.
The service that I will offer to everyone will change the way people think about themselves and about their body. It will help people at all ages to move strongly, freely, effortless, and injury free day after day, week after week, and year after year. Teaching people general postural exercises, how to organise and stabilise the spine, hips, and shoulders, and simply educating people about their body will be important pillars of changing peoples mindset and creating an environment for people to thrive and succeed in every way.

More recently she was head therapist at Urban Retreat Massage & Day Spa Paddington, before continuing to develop her treatment style by working alongside Mark Comerford at Performance Rehab Physiotherapy, and chiropractors Phillip Lovitt and Scott Vernon at Carina Chiropractic.
Cecilia loves to be involved in developing new remedial massage therapists. She complements her current clinical practice with lecturing and tutoring, currently at Niggles & Knots as well as in the Diploma of Remedial Massage program at Q Academy College of Massage. In clinical practice she enjoys working with her patients on a wide variety of treatment goals, including pain management, muscular tension relief, optimal sports performance and lifestyle maintenance, and offers a unique combination of sports, deep tissue and therapeutic massage techniques along with positional release and active resisted work that are an amalgamation of her various post graduate studies. Cecilia is trained in most modalities offered at Niggles & Knots & is happy to combine most therapies into a unique massage experience tailored to achieve your goals. Ka huna massage is the one exception as this is a unique modality which must be experienced by itself to be truly appreciated.
Please advise in advance if you wish to experience hot stone therapy as part of your remedial, deep tissue or relaxation massage, as the stones require preparation & heating.
